An American cardinal requested that the Pope more directly and forcefully condemn homosexuality; I sent him a message.
Cardinal Raymond Burke, an American cleric who has been described as “conservative” joined four other cardinals in requesting Pope Francis to clarify the Church’s opposition to homosexual unions. He insists that God cannot bless sin.
The Pope, to his credit, chose to reaffirm God’s love.
I went to the Contact form on Cardinal Burke’s website to request that HE publicly reaffirm Jesus’ core teachings, his command that we love one another, that we love our enemies, and that we be kind to strangers, to foreigners, to “others” — the message of the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
I pointed out that, in today’s divisive and hateful atmosphere, a reaffirmation of God’s love and demand that WE love one another would be timely and important. Much more important than hating gays.
I’ll let you know if I hear back. Not holding my breath. You can send your own message to him HERE.
