A Plea to the Scientists of IPCC

Abandon the useless leaders and join the people who care.

Hello, hard-working competent curious and caring scientists of the IPCC. For several decades now, you’ve been sharing your research and recommendations with policymakers and world leaders.

In that time, leaders have occasionally signed agreements and set targets. But these commitments have been inadequate to the scope and severity of the crisis, and anyway they’ve failed to follow through.

In fact, dear scientists, your efforts and painstaking work has been wasted on fools who have neither the intention nor the ability to take the required actions.

May I humbly suggest that it’s time to go over the heads of those failed leaders and go directly to the people themselves? While leaders are apparently completely committed to an alliance with Big Oil, ordinary people who do all the work, and who have the children that will inherit this grievously damage planet may be ready to take control and take action.

They—and I’m one of them so I’ll say “we”—are more likely to listen, because we have our children’s skin in the game, and we love our children. We also love our planet. We love life and the amazing variety of creatures that share the planet with us.
