A possible deep sea mining treaty isn’t enough to make me feel hopeful. Our leaders around the world—political and business—and the unrelenting extractive economic systems (all of them)—are speeding us towards doom. This possible treaty would be, pardon the pun, a drop in the ocean at best. And, if history is a guide, this treaty would be no more meaningful than the Paris Agreement.

There is no hope with the current systems and leaders. They are the ones who brought us to this dire situation. They will finish us all off—including themselves—given the chance.

We should not give them the chance. Our only real hope is US. By defying the rules, disobeying the leaders and policymakers, and using the power of our numbers, WE can take control and force a worldwide emergency climate program directed by ACTUAL CLIMATE SCIENTISTS. This would be our way out of this mess.

Whether this remains a pipe dream or becomes our reality depends on ordinary sane and caring people—like you. WE actually have the power, which starts by reaching out to the others who care, building our numbers and then acting decisively. This is the power that historically (including recent history) took down dictators and empires.
