Isn’t that the very definition of freedom?
My suggestion that women may want to try using a sex strike in the 13 most misogynistic states, as a tactic to get their rights restored, has been met with some enthusiastic support — and some very angry opposition.

In some instances, I was accused of being paternalistic and helping the patriarchy. Who was I to tell women they couldn’t have sex? Of course, I was not ordering women to do — or not do — anything. I was offering an idea, a tactic, to try to restore women’s rights. Because, you see, like the choice to give birth or not, whether or not to have sex is also a woman’s choice.
Or should be.
I was told that women who refused sex would be raped. I certainly think refusing sex, in that case, would be a bad choice. A better choice for women in that situation might be to flee her husband, get a restraining order, or put a pillow over his head when he’s sleeping. In any case, a woman who fears that refusing sex with her partner would result in rape is already being abused and may already be a regular victim non-consensual sex. Something needs to be done immediately about THAT.
I’ve been told that a sex strike won’t work because women want sex, too. But, you see, many of those same women…
