How we’d be thinking if we weren’t hypnotized by living in an insane civilization.
At least a billion of us humans, and perhaps many billions, actually understand what’s going on, what’s important and what needs to be done. Underneath the day-to-day life of work, obligations and social pressures, reality makes a stealth appearance within us.
But we keep these realities buried deep. We don’t take time to reflect on them or to act because we’d be outliers, we’d need to go first, we’d need to be renegades. And we aren’t prepared to lead. But if SOMEONE ELSE emerges first to lead, to take the chance at being ridiculed — well, THEN we might change. We might re-examine our beliefs, and bring those truths to the surface and ACT on them.
What we know, nearly all of us, is that the climate is being destroyed by fossil fuel profiteers and we are helping them do it. We are cooperating. We are picking these planet killers over our own children and over our own Earth. We don’t like doing this. We feel terrible about it. But we don’t know what else to do. We feel helpless and alone.
This is ironic because there are more than a billion of us — people who are sane, who love their children, and who understand the crisis. How can a billion or more people be helpless? And how can they be alone?
