Absurdly, right wing fanatics want zygotes to be legally recognized as persons.

Zygotes aren’t people. Neither are corporations. The law is often an ass. And asses are looking to further elevate absurdities by adding them to the law.

Let’s counter this with some sensible legislation. Sensible legislation which would be unnecessary in a sane world.

Let’s make pregnant women fully recognized human beings under the law. Not appendages to zygotes with the rights of zygotes taking precedence. Because sane people can tell the difference between a clump of cells that has no consciousness and no brain from a pregnant living woman. But right wingers and the Supreme Court of the United States cannot.

I know that it’s already in the Constitution. So are the words “Congress declares war” but nearly every president since the end of WWII has violated those words, and Congress has been fine with it. Nor has the Supreme Court defended the Constitution in the case of these very clear and unambiguous words.

So, I’m not surprised that the fact that the 14th amendment clearly refers to “persons born” when talking about citizens, nobody in positions of authority has stepped up to enforce them.
