Umair has the pulse of humanity. He sees us as distracted and paralyzed into inaction. But that might be a temporary thing. It’s OUR job to ensure that big changes are coming — and soon.
Umair Haque, perhaps the wisest voice on Medium, has another brilliant essay online. It’s called How We Got Conditioned to Accepting Dystopia. You should really read it. In fact, you should subscribe to him and read his words regularly.
But although Umair’s essay is accurate, it’s not quite complete. He IS right that we are heading into doom and won’t escape without big changes. And he is right that the lack of revolutionary action is downright eerie.
But he’s wrong to think we’ve been effectively paralyzed. In fact, there is a latent body of revolutionaries — billions of them worldwide.
Who are these people and why aren’t they in the streets?
The People
Our planet has 3 billion young people — under 30 — most of whom understand the climate is collapsing and, unless big changes come and come quickly, they have no future. The majority of these 3 billion people are potential revolutionaries.
