If we can’t preserve human decency, can we at least preserve the language?

Can you actively and forcefully oppose nearly everything Jesus preached and still call yourself a Christian? Can you fight against the fundamental founding concepts of America in word and deed and call yourself a patriot?

Clearly, yes.

But WE don’t need to adapt their Orwellian abuse of the English language. We can and should use the language correctly. If you oppose what Jesus preached, you aren’t a Christian. You are anti-Christian. This is true even if you claim to believe in Jesus. If you oppose, in practice, government by, for, and of the people and if you fight against the idea that all men are created equal and if you don’t believe that people have inalienable rights but only rights granted to them by the government, well then YOU are anti-American. This is true no matter how many flags you display or how loudly you proclaim your patriotism.

I’m not naming names. You know what’s in the Declaration of Independence — the document that spells out the ideals the colonists fought a revolution to defend. You know what Jesus preached.

Maybe you are fooling yourself. Maybe you don’t know. Maybe you need to re-read the Declaration of Independence and/or the New Testament. If so, go ahead. I’m neither promoting nor opposing either document. I’m just saying before you adopt a label for yourself, you should know what you are talking about. And then you should be honest.

Whatever fake Christians and fake patriots say, I’m going to use those words correctly. And I’ll correct people when they use those words wrong.

Let’s keep it honest.
