You will be “sick” on that day, along with many other people. Sick of waiting for failed leaders to act decisively to fix the multiple existential global crises. This will be the first of an annual event. But we have very few years left. We must win SOON.
The Earth is sick. Very sick. This is bad news. Bad news for the Earth, bad news for every living thing on the planet — including us. The misbehavior of our species — or at least the people and systems that guide the behavior of our species — are the culprits. They spread the disease, defend and promote the virus, the virus of planet abuse.
This illness is spread using fossil fuels, production of huge piles of commodified plastic crap, removing mountaintops, clear cutting forests — literally ANYTHING for a buck. Everything on the planet — human beings, and the resources that compose the Earth itself — are treated as mere things, a means to an end, and the end is to make a handful of undeserving billionaires richer.
Most of us have little effect on these policies. We go along because we have no way to change these things.
