If they weren’t such fools, we’d call them criminally insane.
Our leaders are still not recognizing the climate emergency. And compared to other factions — like outright climate deniers — our leaders seem almost sane. They certainly don’t seem like hellbent evil Bond villains.
I mean, Joe Biden — whatever his flaws — is basically a kindly old man. And compared to Donald Trump and the MAGA lunatics, Biden is a combination of Yoda and Gandhi.
But Biden, like pretty much every other leader on Earth, is destroying the habitability of the planet. He’s not doing this because he’s bad — he’s NOT bad. He’s doing this because he’s the President of a country with a political system awash in corporate money. And an ultra-wealthy few sponsor politicians and gurantee that profitable fossil fuel use will continue to the bitter end.
That’s why the Inflation Reduction Act includes a gift to fossil fuel billionaires — granting new drilling licenses. Those licenses should be numbered 007, because they are literally licenses to kill.
Whether it’s Saudi Arabia, or Russia or the United States, people in power are there because of oil. THAT’s why they behave the way they do and that’s why WE HAVE NO CHOICE but to remove them, if we want a habitable planet. Here’s the choice — remove the leaders and replace them with…
