How the climate emergency program changed the world. (Fiction, for now.)
I think some countries still have national governments. That is, I think countries still exist. But it’s hard to know because, if they do, people don’t pay attention to them.
It’s all about the new ways now.
You see, we realized that we couldn’t afford to follow the authorities over the climate cliff. We’d lived our whole lives for corporations and governments, very obediently. But their climate destruction, their commitment to fossil fuels which was, of course, death itself…well, we couldn’t go along with that.
We had our children to think about. We weren’t going to completely destroy Nature Herself just so a few small-minded fools could accumulate more wealth and exercise more power over us.
I mean, think about it. Those so-called leaders were endangering us and our children! They exercised control only insofar as we went along with them, did what they asked — no, demanded!
Imagine people who do NONE OF THE WORK making all of the demands! Crazy, huh?!
But that’s how we lived before. We went to work, 40+ hours a week, often many more. IF we could get work. They paid us the minimum they could get away with. Those who couldn’t get work were in big trouble. And those of us who had work were…
