Before I ever read that book, I’d concluded that we were robbed when work hours weren’t slashed as technology made productivity skyrocket. Think about it. Maybe 2% need to work in agriculture to feed 320 million people. Why are we all working long hours still? Why?

Housing, medicine—all of it offers more and more for less and less due to tech improvements—yet we pay MORE. Why?

Two reasons. It’s intentional—the wealthy few who essentially control policy—love us to struggle because THEY benefit. And there’s inertia—our economics, whether capitalism or socialism or whatever—are still based on the assumption that it’s about managing scarcity.

But there’s no reason for scarcity and systems like socialism and capitalism are archaic.

Much of the suffering of the human race is self-inflicted (like climate catastrophe), fueled by a foolish self-serving wealthy few (who are, stupidly, killing their own grandchildren) and lack of imagination.
