Christianity protects pedophiles and frequently protected and supported slavery and other abominations. And many other religions are harsh and cruel to women. These are human ethics, not biblical ones but the bible is always trotted out and interpreted to mean whatever religious authorities believe.

It is this continued cruelty and hypocrisy that is driving the exodus from religion.

Which is a shame because much of what Jesus says in the bible is quite good.
