How the hell do we fix enormous and critical problems? The first step is to try, but you must always be ready to rethink and adjust.

I want an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. I want the UN and NGOs to rush in emergency food and medical supplies and help the people there.

I want Israel to withdraw completely and permanently from the area.

In other words, I agree with and support the key aims of the protesters at universities and elsewhere.

I want the fossil fuel industry stopped and ultimately shut down completely. I want CO2 emissions to be slashed sharply and quickly. I want the climate stabilized and, insofar as possible, the damage repaired.

In other words, I agree with and support the key aims of climate activists. In fact, I am myself a climate activist.

But…

Keep Going, But Keep Thinking, Learning, Adjusting and Being More Effective

In my view, both movements are doing some good and both are making mistakes. Now, in many ways I’m not in a position to criticize strategies and tactics. My own movement, The Saners, has yet to make any impact whatsoever.

Still, hear me out.
