“Please protect. our Earth, not oil profits. Save our children, don’t steal our money.”
I like analog things. Yes, I’m a web developer — one of the first in Philadelphia, going back to 1994. The Internet can be fun. But nothing beats the physical presence of a solid object — whether it’s a real book or a printed greeting card.
I’d like to send friendly, but firmly-worded greeting cards to the businessmen and politicians who are destroying the climate. I don’t know if they’d reach the intended recipients, but it would be fun to try. And I could post videos on social media of the card being completed and mailed. Maybe that would inspire copycats. I’d LOVE that!
I’d do my own drawings and print the cards on the inkjet printer in my office. I’d hand write notes to my favorite Wall Street executives and hedge fund managers. Maybe I’d even send some to Senator Joe Manchin and other planet-chocking government officials. I’d mail these cards to their offices with a note on the envelope requesting that it go DIRECTLY to the person addressed.
I’d even put my name and return address on the envelope. I’m not shy about my convictions.
Of course, each card would contain my demand inside:
Leaders everywhere have failed catastrophically. We demand a worldwide emergency program, led by climate scientists, to repair the damage you’ve done and to give our children — and YOURS — a fighting chance of living on a habitable Earth.
This is such an exciting idea. I can’t wait for Christmas. In fact, I won’t!
