How I plan to get through our brush with the apocalypse.
The climate collapse is happening now. And civilization is showing cracks in its illusion of control and strength. We are on the edge of a major change, which could be the end. Or, if we (you and me, not the “authorities”), take control and do the right thing, we could be on the verge of a better society, albeit on a terribly damaged planet.
First of all, the easy stuff. Leaders and authorities everywhere are about to panic and flee. They are out of their depth. They’ve unleashed this climate disaster and, somehow, even though they understood this would happen…they didn’t quite believe it. Such is the way tunnel vision and hubris works.
Sadly, those of us who saw this coming — and there are more than a billion of us — didn’t believe that the authorities would let things go this far. Many of us thought, yes the leaders are greedy and power mad, but surely they won’t destroy the planet that their own children and grandchildren need to live on?
We were wrong. At least I was wrong. I’ve been working on sparking a wider worldwide climate movement for months now. But I should have been working at this for more than a decade. I blew it. But now that I have started, however belatedly, I won’t stop. Ever. Until I stop breathing.
