Finding Nature’s God. Going door-to-door arguing for Realism and giving away copies of Origin of the Species.
“Have you heard the Good Word?” I asked, as the well-dressed woman, rushing to get ready for church, tried to politely get me to go away.
“We have all been evolved by Nature’s God, and perfectly adapted to live on His beautiful planet. Read this. It will change your life.”
I smiled sweetly as I handed her one of my many copies of “Origin of the Species.” This special edition numbered the chapters, paragraphs and went right down to each line. I quoted it frequently.
“I’m sorry sir. But I’m a Christian and I’m off to church,” said the woman, attempting politeness despite her obvious annoyance.
“This won’t take but a few minutes. And it will change your life,” I assured her, pushing past her, entering her living room and sitting on her couch.
I continued. “It says here in the Good Book ‘If we look to long enough intervals of time, geology plainly declares that species have all changed; and they have changed in the manner required by the theory, for they have changed slowly and in a graduated manner.’”
