Declining populations are the least of our problems. In fact, declining populations may be part of the solution.
I'm more worried about the massive deaths coming in India and elsewhere from web bulb level heatwaves. We are still doing nothing about the climate crisis. That's not only going to shrink populations—it'll kill hundreds of millions and ultimately billions as we refuse to take any meaningful steps.
It's time to make things really uncomfortable for authorities who continue to fail to sharply reduce fossil fuels, substitute clean energy and make the effort to hand over a habitable planet to our children and grandchildren.
