Kamala uses a technique that Captain Kirk used to skillfully exile an alien
Last night, Kamala Harris continued to outsmart and outmaneuver her opponent in the same way that Captain Kirk vanquished a seemingly all-powerful alien adversary. And while Trump appeared more alien than Kirk’s opponent—with his orange skin and all—he proved to be similarly vulnerable to ridicule.
All bullies are.
“He subsists on hostility, violent intentions.”
FDR also said it: “All we have to fear is fear itself.” Back during WWII, Charlie Chaplin (in his film “The Great Dictator”) had the guts and wisdom to ridicule Hitler, and Americans realized they could defeat the Nazis with humor and a solid punch in the nose; they proceeded to do so.
Kamala Harris delivered both last night.
A Bigger Lesson
Like the Wizard of Oz pulling levers behind his curtain, the opponents of good people—various vainglorious thugs like Big Oil and the Chinese Communist Party and American Plutocrats and Vladimir Putin—try to fill us with fear, to blind us with their awesome powers.
But we are not facing invincible gods. We are facing old weak mortals who have deployed a cheap parlor trick. Because none of these dangerous idiots do their own stunts.
