Energy and the Can’t Do Spirit

How many reasons have you heard to explain why we can’t stop using fossil fuels and replace them with clean energy? I’m pretty sure I don’t remember them all, so feel free to add your “reasons” in the comments.

As you probably know, we haven’t done a damn thing about our deadly fossil fuel addiction in the last 40 years, despite clear warnings from climate scientists. Our inaction is fully explained by this ONE fact — decision makers, that is wealthy influential people who spend money on politicians and public opinion, want to keep burning fossil fuels. Their financial empires run on oil.

Of course there are other challenges, but they are all solvable IF WE HAD THE WILL TO ACT. Billions of us…those of us with awareness and who love our children…do have that will but lack the power and authority to act. Our children and grandchildren will struggle to survive on an increasingly uninhabitable Earth because decision-makers lack the will and everyone else lacks the power.

Unless we come up with some really brilliant strategy and execute it and/or some major event turns things our way.

In any case, back to the excuses for doing nothing.

1. We need fossil fuels.

No explanation, no justification. Some people just state this repeatedly as if repeating it…
