This is also the difference between kindness and cruelty.
Most people are of goodwill. This seems to be hard to believe in a world where cruelty — and a passionate joyful cruelty — appears so frequently and prominently. In our current world, nothing seems to pay off so well as cruelty.
The entire GOP looks like a contest to see who can be the most cruel and therefore win he biggest prize. Who can be more brutal to brown people — DeSantis or Trump? They are both trying, and their legions of cultish fans are along for the ride.
And then there’s the “faithful” who are nothing like the Faithful. The “faithful” demand you respect their faith, while they band together to tear down others who don’t drink the same Kool-Aid
You know who I’m talking about. The people who speak for Jesus, ignoring His kinder words and, in fact most of His words. They focus on the harshest words generally in the Old Testament, and use them to scold others who aren’t subservient to the cruel bigotry and greed of the “faithful.”
Their “faith” is a bludgeon and any attempt you make to defend yourself is, in their eyes, oppression. The thugs are the victims.
