First of all, I'm following you because I like your writing and appreciate your work.
Also, I am donating to the Harris/Walz campaign, working for the campaign, and—of course—voting for the straight Democratic ticket.
I am a climate activist. I think it's critical for Harris to defeat Trump and for the Democrats to take and keep the House and Senate. I want Harris to appoint at least 3 sensible Justices to the Supreme Court—adding to the total and making the number 12...or more.
But after putting Harris in office, I will be working with others to force more significant action on the environment than any administration can possibly accomplish under a political and economic system awash in Big Oil money.
Also, getting only the United States into a position of low carbon emissions in 25 years would be way too little and way too late.
Our group, The Saners, believe that to ruin the planet we all live on, or to allow anyone to ruin is, is literally insane. We intend to use active and targeted nonviolent noncooperation to end fossil fuels—worldwide. Like Gandhi and King, we recognize that "leaders" do nothing and if ordinary people (those who do all the work) refuse to cooperate...well, leaders become powerless.
This people power has been used successfully many times throughout history. My favorite fairly recent example is Otpor!—a movement started and led by 5 college students—that successfully ousted the Serbian dictator and established representative government in that country.
