Future Medicine

Options for a healthier, saner future.

Sometimes our failed civilization delivers well — albeit at a horrible cost. This is the case with 21st century medicine.

I’ve been ignoring the fine points of what a better civilization would — no, will — look like. I’ve been concentrating on the big picture and how we will get there.

The reason for this is that others have the expertise. I don’t have an advanced knowledge of medicine — others do. Any new approach to medicine will be largely designed by those experts. It will, presumably, continue to use and develop the science and technology that underpins good healthcare — while ditching the ruinous bean counters and for-profit motive that poisons it.

The Saners approach to the polycrisis is overall to put the best minds on the issues and merely set the broad parameters:

How do we provide good medical care for everyone while respecting human dignity and the Earth’s environment — in a world without for-profit enterprises?

Some Speculation

We are always told that everything must be allocated due to limits. We don’t have enough of essential things, so healthcare is distributed under capitalism (and socialism) based on some kind of system or rules.
