A couple of GOPers think this may not be a good platform. Not because it’s wrong, but because it might not work.
As everyone knows, most of the GOP wants to ban abortion outright without exceptions for rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. They are also not wild about birth control.
In other words, they are passionately in favor of killing mom. And even though they deny this — they claim to care about babies although everything we know about them demonstrates that’s NOT true — the fact is that most women understand fully and don’t want to be killed. That’s why, since the Handmaiden Supreme Court repealed Roe, the GOP has been slammed by women in nearly every election contest.
Republican Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina opines:
“If we can show that we care just a little bit, that we have some compassion, we can show the country our policies are reasonable…”
She’s an outlier in her party, but her words are revealing. They suggest that’s she’s fully cognizant that the GOP doesn’t care, lacks compassion and doubts that their own policies are even reasonable. But, she argues, if the party slightly reduces the dosage of poison, the victims may continue to drink it and continue to vote for the people who want to kill them.
