Gorbachev was a good person. He was raised a communist—by accident of birth. He idolized and idealized Khruschev. He believed in a GOOD communism and wanted to remove all that was bad in the Soviet Union. Nobody really knew him when they elevated him to head up the country. He was in charge or a successful harvest—avoiding food shortages. Of course, it was fortunate weather, not Gorbachev, that made a good harvest possible.

Gorbachev would not shoot protesters or resisters because he didn’t believe in repression. He was in many ways naive, but also a man who changed history through moral character. He is hated to this day by former Soviets who miss the Soviet empire. He is reviled by moral midgets who worship power and empire and understanding nothing of kindness or goodness.

All good people understand and respect the late Soviet leader.
