Hey, Gaza Protesters! Trump Issued A Muslim Ban. Biden Removed It.
Do you really believe Trump would be nicer to Gazans?
In January 2017, I was at the Philadelphia airport protesting with tens of thousands of others (or more) against Donald Trump’s Muslim ban. Although the Courts slightly weakened the Executive Order, the Muslim ban was in effect until January 2021.
On his first day of office, President Biden removed the ban. This move was supported by his Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Donald Trump’s issue with Netanyahu was that he hasn’t finished off the Palestinians yet — that he is taking too long. Whatever his shortcomings, Biden is attempted to get a ceasefire.
College students and others who are protesting Biden’s failure on Gaza (and they are right, it IS a failure) are helping someone who is much much worse to become president.
The real world implications for Muslims if we get Trump instead of Harris is that there would still be be slaughter in Gaza under either, but under Trump American Muslims would be abused and possibly deported. Who wants to take responsibility for that?
As a relevant aside, more about me.
I’ve only given money to three political candidates in my life: Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar and Kamala Harris.
The Americans protesting for Gazans are no friend of Palestinians. And when they help the crueler candidate, they are enabling that cruelty. I get the logic that we need, at some point, to reject the choice between two evils.
Those protesters can tell that to American Muslims during the next Muslim ban. I’ll welcome the Gaza protesters opposed to the the Democrats to our protest at the Philadelphia airport.
But I’ll also give them the stink eye.
