The logic of trashing Biden and giving Trump yet another free pass.
The whiniest politician in living memory who complains that he’s treated worse than anyone has it exactly in reverse. He’s treated better than anyone — with extraordinary deference no matter what he says or does.
This pattern continues with the recent debate.
After telling a series of lies—stridently with a bombast worthy of a former leader of Germany—Donald Trump got a free pass for his “performance” at the debate. He had helped himself, despite recently becoming a convicted felon (34 times!) and despite his leading role in inciting a violent insurrection on January 6th.
In our topsy-turvy world, all that matters is that Joe Biden spoke poorly and showed his age at a truly meaningless public performance. The debate was meaningless because both participants have an actual public record of their actions—we know about them, and so we do not need to hear from them.
