Hoping To Be Heard
The introvert steps up front.
I normally like to stay in the background. I’m not shy, but I’m not a showboat either. I like to do my part quietly, out of sight.
But now is not the time for that. Now is the time for all of us to speak up and speak out. Whether or not we believe that the rampaging new dictatorship can be stopped, we owe it to ourselves and our consciences to try.
I’ve been working on this for some time. I started out, at first, trying to save the climate so our children and grandchildren could live on a habitable Earth. Back then, we had an unjust plutocracy—which I was not fond of—but not yet a brutal terrorizing openly violent fascist tyranny.
When the times change, I change with them. As a human, and also as an American, tyranny does not sit well with me.
A Prepared Speech Which I May Not Be Able To Deliver
Tomorrow, April 19th, is a national day of action—protests are planned all around the country. I am in Philly, and like millions of others, I will be attending my local protest.
I am not an organizer or an official speaker. But I have a megaphone and a speech prepared. I hope to give the speech in front of Independence Hall.
