I agree. Not every company is greedy and regulations can play a part. Although what’s happening now isn’t related to any new set of regulations.

But I believe that in most cases, jobs are going unfilled because people don’t want these jobs. And, in most cases, employers have not significantly sweetened offers or even improved them at all. In other cases, the reputation for treatment at certain jobs is so bad that people don’t want them even if the offer go up significantly. I’m thinking service workers who are increasingly subject to abuse by short-tempered customers. This is not the employers fault.

However, when employer complain about workers being lazy or nobody wants to work AND do not increase the offer significantly in an attempt to meet demand, I think the employer is at fault.
