I agree with you—except the part where you devalue a dog’s life. Personally, I’d give my life for my dog. Although I admit it’s odd.
I think that what’s missing from the world is imagination. We should ask the question, what could Israel do that would make killing hostages useless or even harmful to Hamas’ cause? An action that wouldn’t involved killing?
I don’t (yet) know the answer, but that the only option we even think of is killing strikes me as simply awful.
