I am a space buff and have personally met and spoken extensively with many astronauts. Most astronauts LOVE to fly and would not consider being in space longer than planned to be "stranded"—unless they were in danger. These astronauts are not in danger and they know that.

Also worth noting: these two were chosen to be the FIRST to test fly a new spacecraft. This is a HUGE honor enjoyed only by the top of the top. This is a John Young and Gus Grissom honor. (Those are two of the most accomplished astronauts of all time.)

What they probably both disappointed about is that they didn't get a chance to fly their Boeing spacecraft back to Earth. But they probably also recognize that this would have been unnecessarily dangerous and probably a foolish move. I'm pretty sure they accept that, despite their disappointment.

Whatever their personal political views, they are probably focused on their jobs, and their genuine and deep excitement about their mission as astronauts.
