I am captivated by the book How To Blow Up A Pipeline by Andreas Malm. It’s the only thing that gives me hope.

I am convinced that the establishment—wealthy people and the politicians they bankroll—will never do anything meaningful to save the Earth and it’s a dangerous waste of the little time we have left trying to move them.

Instead, we need to make fossil fuels a risky and unattractive investment. Very, very fast.

Malm proposes we do this via sabotage. Even simple small actions like keying gigantic SUVs can make a real difference. His ideas require a relatively small number of people and very doable actions.

And any credible attempt at survival must go around the people who are destroying the planet—not working with them.

I’ve personally tried other things—writing directly to billionaires and oil executives, asking them to reverse course for the sake of their own grandchildren.

That’s useless. We must take matters fully into our own hands.
