I am fan of both Hansen and Mann. My wife has interviewed Mann, and I’m thinking of contacting him with regard to the Saners Movement. I don’t believe that climate scientists should be reduced to the role of advisors whose advice is always ignored.

I think we need to defy all authorities and rules and systems that have brought us to this dire state. I think that actual climate scientists, assisted by whoever they choose—probably engineers and young climate activists—should be fully in charge of a worldwide emergency program to end fossil fuels and do whatever is required to retain a habitable Earth.

I don’t care if what’s required is 1000 times bigger than the Manhattan Project. We must do everything that’s required. The stakes are too high to delay or cut corners.
