I am looking at the one clear and obvious and critical measure—actual reduction in CO2 emissions. Not slowing the increase. That doesn't count. Nature cannot be fooled.

We have not seen any reduction; CO2 emissions have increased and, without significant changes, will continue to increase. I don't believe projections by those who are committed to continued fossil fuel use, or believe in a "go slow" approach.

We were warned in 1988. We've have 28 years of toothless international conferences. The record of world leaders and corporations speak for themselves.

Yes, the U.S. has a terrible record. But nobody else has reduced CO2 emissions either. I'm not picking sides. I against anyone who worsens the problem. And, right now, that's just about everyone.

It's not personal. And it's not negative. It's not that I hate Russia or the United States or China. (Okay, admittedly I'm not all that fond of any government, or corporation.) This is about people, about our children, about the species that share the Earth with us.

We are in the middle of a Sixth Extinction. This is caused by humans abusing the Earth. This is where we live. We depend on the biosphere, and another great extinction can very likely include us. I won't stand for it.

IF we were starting from, say, a quarter century ago...well, the situation appeared more hopeful and leadership still had SOME credibility. We actually had a climate activist run for president and he was chosen by American voters for that post. But when the SCOTUS overruled the American electorate, that's when I began to suspect that we were racing towards oblivion.

And now, here we are...
