I am not a Christian because I don’t believe in the supernatural. But Jesus gives very good—and very difficult—advice.
Love one another. Love your enemies. Turn the other cheek. The parable of the Good Samaritan. The Sermon on the Mount. Even the anger at the money lenders.
Christians who strive to live up to these ideals, however difficult and inevitably falling short, have my deepest respect.
But those who violate all of these and do so in the name of Jesus, using Him to sanctify their anger, fear and cowardice, have my contempt.
