I am on Bluesky and I agree completely. Every platform is a hostage situation. Even Medium. I write here and continue to write here, but I consider my own website, my own email list, my own blog and my own MOVEMENT, to be my home. All social media and other platforms is ancillary.
I'm looking forward to adding my own community, but the software I plan to use in not yet released.
I insist on controlling my own key assets. The "advantage" of those commercial properties is that they (theoretically) could deliver a large audience. They never do. And the income they produce is negligible.
I'm bent on fixing the world. That requires getting off a computer and DOING THINGS in the physical world with actual people who you SEE and TALK WITH. Digital assets? Sure. But they must be mine or they don't count.
