I appreciate that you’ve thought this through. I’m a climate activist and I fully understand that neither candidate is good on this (existential) issue and that our movement will need to continue fighting whoever wins after the election.

Most of us would rather fight Biden because we think he’s less likely to shoot at American protesters. But don’t confuse our preference for Biden as an enthusiastic endorsement of his policies.

We think that it’s fortunate that Gorbachev and not someone like Stalin was in charge when the people ended the Soviet Union.

I think the regime would still have fallen, but it would have been much bloodier.

I think just as long as a movement has though through the implications and made a conscious choice—as you seem to have done—then you are on a viable track.
