I certainly don’t vilify people in general. I am fully aware of the sincerity of businessmen and managers. And publicly-held companies are in a different situation than privately held.
I have personally been both a manager and an owner.
But the system is flawed and people are only a means to an end. This is not only true under capitalism (or what we call capitalism). Hierarchical clueless management is common under most systems. Whether people are used by governments or businessmen are variations on the same theme.
Businesses and governments must be subservient to human concerns and needs. When this doesn’t happen, all are prone to destroy everything, including the habitability of the Earth itself. This is true in the United States, China, Russia, India, U,K. And nearly everywhere else.
It’s pretty much as Lord Acton warned about corruption inherent to concentrated power.
