I disagree with 2 assumptions in this model. One is job security—that hasn’t existed for decades and is not a benefit of working in a job. Two is the talent issue—there has never been a shortage of talent—there’s a shortage of appreciating the ability of employees. For decades, employers have demanded degrees and experience far exceeding the actual capabilities for any job.
No. Here on Earth, millions are leaving jobs—at great personal risk—because they’re tired of the abuse, long hours, low pay and nearly nonexistent benefits. That some employers may, for the moment, spend a few more dollars and pretend to care about other human beings only seems to fool consultants and employers.
Most workers understand the ongoing brutality of today’s corporate capitalism. They won’t get fooled again.
