I don’t have a crystal ball either. But I don’t think that this election will be decided over the economy, or Gaza, or 3rd party candidates.
I think it will be decided by a newly emerging voting block—and by far the biggest one—which began to coalesce after June 2022. That group is women—a group that previously did not vote as a block. But they are reacting to the repeal of Roe, to being robbed of their own bodies, to being victims of forced births, to being required to bear the children of rapists, to the requirement to flee their own states to get emergency medical care or die.
They are a huge group who, in an age when zygotes and corporations are recognized as persons, they are not.
I believe that the GOP will be trounced for this and only this reason. We have already seen evidence that women are engaging in an effective counter attack against their oppressors. We see this in pro-choice ballot initiatives in deep red states. We see this in special elections, even in Alabama.
This election isn’t about Biden. Nobody cares about Biden. People are reacting to Trump and to his “success” in repealing Roe.
That’s the winning issue for the Democrats but they are mostly too stupid to see it.
But women see very clearly what they are up against. They are their own last line of defense. The Democrats are just a weapon to use against the GOP.
Even in electoral victory, the Democrats won’t help women. They won’t appoint additional pro-choice Justices to the Court and restore Roe.
It’ll take more fighting. And I’m fighting for them, too.
