I don't think the climate movement needs to do the science. They should (as most do) tell our failed leaders to listen to the climate scientists.
As far as who's responsible for this and how it needs to be solved, activists disagree. But it's clear to me that fossil fuel must be stopped at the PRODUCTION end—whether it's by persuasion or sabotage or force.
In the case of the ozone hole, we didn't persuade people to boycott freon and stop using air conditioners. And, in fact, on that occasion leaders actually DID THEIR JOBS and ended freon. They need to do the same for fossil fuels, but it's clear they won't.
That's where activists come in. They aren't scientists and they aren't in positions of authority. They need to mobilize people to force and end to fossil fuels and to force leaders to listen to and ACT ON what climate scientists tell us is necessary.
