I have a B.A. in economics class. When I took my first economics class, I stood up and said something like: “I understand that when you model something as complex as the economy, you need to simplify. But these ‘assumptions’ are absolutely absurd.” I also pointed out that everything in the world that’s truly important is labeled an exogenous variable.
Later, I was taught how to manage badly, and especially how to badly treat people who report to you but assuming they are idiots and they simply need to obey. That was called an MBA. I got lucky that time, because I had a few renegade professors who actually taught me the truth.
