I have never owned a car. I usually go without air conditioning. Most of the time, I walk everywhere.
I could do more, but it would never be enough. As long as we keep taking fossils out of the ground and burning them, we will continue on the path to doom.
This isn't me talking. It's 15,000 climate scientists. They have the expertise to draw that conclusion and I respect their expertise.
You are right about the problems with lithium and cobalt. But we need to move to clean energy NOW. We also need to develop more environmentally friendly batteries. We need to continue improving clean energy technologies as we go along.
But we don't have time. We need to slash C02 emissions as quickly as possible. We threw away 30+ years because we allowed our "leaders" to ignore the problem and continue expanding fossil fuel use.
We need to replace those leaders. All of them, worldwide. And put young people—specifically young climate activists—in charge of their own planet. Because their generation will inherit this ruined Earth.
