I see a lot of ideas that are not part of atheism attributed to atheism. Atheism is a belief that there is no god. Period. It says nothing about free will or whatever.

Also, this first mover thing is not the god of religion. Many atheists simply don’t believe in god 1) because of the problem of evil—pretty good evidence, if you ask me and 2) the god of religion requires you to believe a huge number of truly incredible things..

In any case, my personal feeling is that I don’t believe in god and I don’t care whether or not there is a god.

What I care about is kindness, and I value people who exhibit kindness whether or not they believe in god.
