I think a major thing to consider is that others — ”smart” TVs, and other streaming devices — provide truly horrendous interfaces.

Like you, I have an old Apple TV so I can’t judge current models. But the Apple remote app on my iPhone is pretty decent. Yeah, Apple can and should do a lot better. But when it comes to streaming TV, they’re king in the land of the blind.
