I think modern Christianity makes a big mistake by focusing on personal salvation. I think the emphasis should be on being inspired by Jesus to love one another, feed the hungry, heal the sick and be kind to strangers as described in the parable of the Good Samaritan.

To simply believe in Him and chant his name as an incantation to get to heaven—well, that’s a model for a very shabby human being of questionable moral character.
