I think of social media as auxiliary—you cannot center a communications strategy on a platform that you don’t control. I, too, quit X and have an account on Bluesky. But my expectations were (and are) modest. Bluesky is simply an extra but relatively dependable tool for me to share and communicate ideas, and to receive stimulating ideas from others.
But even Medium has issues. I was suspended and then reinstated due to an aggressive algorithm, I’m told.
My primary platform is my own website and blog. We should all consider this—taking control of our communication and sharing via commercial platforms only insofar as they remain useful.
