I think people—especially women who are justifiably very, very angry in all 50 states—will turn out in large number to crush Trump and the GOP.
That said, they don't want to hear about or talk about this election—even to pollsters. They ARE so sick of hearing about Trump and the endless cruelty of the MAGA crowd.
Since the repeal of Roe and the continued and expanded abuse of women by the GOP and GOP judges, the MAGA crew has been taking beating after beating. Somehow, this is all discounted or ignored or forgotten. The shock of 2016 has warped our thinking.
But in 2020, Trump lost the popular vote for the 2nd time—and this time even the anti-democratic electoral college couldn't put him back into the White House.
In 2022, the expected Red Wave never appeared. And GEORGIA's Senators were BOTH Democrats.
We've seen ballot initiatives to protect and restore women's rights win in several Red States. In a special election in ALABAMA, a woman Democrat defeated the GOP candidate, running a campaign centered on women's reproductive rights, and TROUNCED the GOP candidate by more than 20 points...in a district that Trump won in 2020.
Nobody can predict the future, but it looks to me like a powerful trend line is pointing to a route of the GOP in 2024. And the ongoing and very visible cruelty of the GOP towards women will keep this life-threatening misogyny top of mind though November.
Maybe the polls and pundits—who have had a dismal record in recent years—are right and Trump and the GOP are doing fine. But I believe they are wrong again...and this time, VERY wrong.
This election is all about Trump and the GOP. It's referendum on them. Biden and the economy and Gaza and the border aren't a factor. Nobody is passionate about Biden and the Democrats. After all, the failed to put Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court and they couldn't stop Trump form appointing 3 lying neanderthals (who swore under oath that Roe was settled law and then repealed it in full) as so-called "Justices."
But the Democrats are a convenient tool the bludgeon the GOP, and that's enough.
We must all turn out and vote for the Democrats though. The wind is at our backs, but that's meaningless if we don't vote to make it happen.
