I think the bigger question is why evangelical Christians obsess over, say, abortion and not other evils in the world. The selectivity suggests a political and not a biblical stance. After all, Jesus doesn’t say a word about abortion or homosexuality, yet the Christians seem obsessed with those issues.

But Jesus DOES preach about being kind to the stranger and the foreigner in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Yet evangelicals seem hostile to immigrants.

I find it confusing. I feel the the Bible is pretty clear about most things but the interpretations by various religious authorities (not just evangelicals) often strike me as convoluted.
