I went to a state college back when college was much, much cheaper and eventually paid of my student loans. With the price of college now astronomical and salaries flat for decades—real income has stagnated—both collages and lenders are crushing young people before they start their careers.
The cost of college is way too high, the actual benefits minimal and interest rates on student loans are usurious. I’d advise no young person to go to college today—it’s an expensive piece of paper that rarely pays for itself.
I’d advise them to learn from free or inexpensive online learning courses. Learn to program. Or whatever. But what used to make sense—college—is now a deceitful and cruel racket. Sad but true.
